The Association of Educational Publishers has inducted three new members into the Educational Publishing Hall of Fame:

AEP Hall of Fame 2010

It’s hard to believe it’s been only a year since Nelson Heller, president of EdNET and host of the annual EdNET Conference, brought people in the Waldorf-Astoria ballroom to tears with his acceptance speech!  Sadly, due to complications with travel and business schedules, I wasn’t able to join in this year’s celebration, the first I’ve missed in nearly a decade.

A special shout out goes to Fred Johnson, former president of Sundance Publishing, one of CB&A’s first clients, whom I’ve enjoyed seeing at this event each year.  In September Fred was kind enough to ferry me (and Liz Strauss, formerly of Sundance, now head of SOBCon) from the airport in Boston to our hotel for the EdNET Conference.  What a sweetheart!  We were able to visit for a few minutes at the hotel and thereby managed to keep our annual face-to-face visits going – nearly a 20 year run!

And a second shout out to Bill Evans of Evan-Moor Educational Publishers, who introduced me to Rachelle Cracchiolo many years ago.  It’s been great fun to connect with both of them during International Reading Association and other events throughout the year.

Lastly, a quick thank you to Marilyn Schutz of Big Deal Media, who helped coordinate CB&A’s advertising-sponsorship this year, and a group congratulations message for the Hall of Fame Class of 2010, co-sponsored with Big Deal Media, BrainWare, Quarsan, and Wildlife Education, Ltd., who joined together as “fans from west of the Hudson and east of Kansas” to congratulate this year’s honorees.
