2014 Summer Memories

By September 5, 2014October 15th, 2017No Comments

Labor Day has passed, and our white clothes are packed away. We’re not quite ready to give up the warm weather, so we decided to take a break from education marketing to reminisce our favorite summer memories. Enjoy our memories, share yours in the comments and check back for part II.

Florence

Paragliding in Switzerland, sunsets in Florence, beachin’ in Barcelona and the Vatican in Rome. This summer I went on a 2-week vacation to Europe with a few friends from college as a post-graduation celebration. A highlight of the trip was all the fantastic food we had. Starting with tapas in Spain, we had a traditional Swiss meal complete with potatoes then had a steady diet of pasta, pizza, gelato and wine in Italy.

One of the coolest things I was able to do this summer was join my Dad on the field at Miller Park as he threw out the first pitch for the Brewers game versus the Pittsburgh. A lot of my family came in from out of town to see the game and my Dad landed his pitch right over the plate.

The highlight of my summer was a vacation to Iron River, Wis. Miles from cell towers, I spent the week in a cabin overlooking a crystal clear lake. As a part of the state I’ve never visited, it was fun exploring the quaint towns along Lake Superior. But far better was the time I spent reading in the sun and relaxing to the symphony of loons on the lake.

Camping is a favorite summer activity for my husband and I and this year was no exception. One of our trips took us to Wildcat Mountain State Park in Wisconsin with my family and our dogs, Barley and Dublin, two soft-coated wheaten terriers. The park is located on a steep ridge overlooking the scenic Kickapoo River Valley. Of course it’s all about the dogs, so we spent a day canoeing the meandering Kickapoo River, rumored to be one of the most crooked rivers in the country. Although the source is only 60 miles from its mouth, the Kickapoo River is nearly 130 miles long.

My favorite summer memories were the weekend trips I took to Lake Geneva, Wis. I spent quality time with family and friends, while relaxing next to Geneva Lake and dining al fresco at the local eateries. Bonfires at night capped off my blissful days during the getaways.
