Reflecting on the Last Decade

EMILY EMBURYWhile taking on my new role as Vice President at CB&A brings excitement for the future, it also makes me reflect on where we’ve been. When I began my career at CB&A as a PR Specialist, there were only four of us working in a small, feline-friendly office. We’ve since grown into a new space where our team of 15 full-time employees can collaborate and explore their creativity. (And furry visitors are always welcome.)

Strength in Numbers

Our size makes us uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the dynamic clients and industries we serve. Over the course of 10 years, we’ve seen the rise (and sometimes fall) of social media marketing. We’ve surfed the content marketing tidal wave. We’ve welcomed new media organizations, monitoring tools and marketing channels. And through it all, our investment in the CB&A team has kept the agency nimble, fresh and capable of providing cutting-edge services for our client family.

PR, Meet Digital

As the team has grown, so, too, have CB&A’s capabilities. Our clients can now enjoy truly integrated visibility campaigns, as we’ve merged digital marketing services with traditional PR expertise. From news releases and media relations to social listening and email marketing, we’ve developed the know-how to support clients’ visibility goals.

Scaling Our Impact

As the CB&A team has widened and fine-tuned our expertise, we’ve become advocates for the special needs market. In 2013, we became the first PR and marketing firm to specialize in this industry. With this expansion came new business opportunities, media relationships and industry knowledge and goose bumps.

‘Hire From Within’ Philosophy

I’ve seen my teammates take similar steps in their careers at CB&A. Account Coordinators have joined the ranks of Account Executives. Others have moved into new positions specifically developed for their talents. The internal recognition at CB&A makes our work even more rewarding.

More Than a Job

The past decade has been incredible. CB&A has allowed me to pursue my passions at work and at home. Work-life balance has always been important to me: I’ve traveled, master-gardened and started a family. My husband and I welcomed our son Arlo in 2014.

As I’ve taken on new responsibilities, at work and at home, the most important thing I’ve learned is that positive change – regardless of how big or small – is the catalyst for success. That’s why I’m excited for the next chapter at CB&A. Our best work is yet to come.
