Trends to Watch for in 2016

By December 18, 2015October 17th, 2017No Comments

The one thing that can’t be stopped – time. Before 2015 is entirely gone, we’ve put together a few trends you should keep in mind as the new year begins:

  • Top view of people hand drawing business creative concept with paintsCreativity & collaboration – As mentioned at the ISTE focus groups and referenced in part 2 of our ISTE blog series, creativity is being talked about in the classroom. It’s proven students do better when they are allowed to flourish artistically and intellectually. Almost all learning is blended learning.

  • Content is still King – As we explained in our marketing tune-up blog post, teachers are looking for shareable content. It isn’t uncommon to find educators on social media, engaging in Twitter chats or pinning classroom ideas on Pinterest. Quick bits of information are the most helpful as teachers are constantly on the go.

  • 24/7 Connectivity – We’re constantly connected, and in this day and age students are too. In order to not tire, teachers and parents need to help students learn both the personal and educational use of technology, while still valuing the “old school” print versions of resources.

  • Get personal – Although we live in this ever-connected world, making meaningful connections is still important. These relationships propel business forward and lead to new and exciting partnerships.

  • Technology will continue to lead – Last year, students created their own codes online, and the industry saw a huge surge led by the popularity of Hour of Code held by Computer Science Education Week. These elements have and will continue to shape the changing education landscape.

  • Professional development – Teachers are taking time to perfect their craft. They are listening to webinars and learning from conferences. This means aspects of the classroom are becoming personalized where they can easily implement learned practices.
