National Fundraising-by-Recycling Program Sponsors Eco-friendly Contest for Schools
Erie, Pa. (March 13, 2012) — Schools nationwide are battling in the “Recycling Rumble,” a friendly competition hosted annually by FundingFactory ®, the nation’s largest fundraising-by-recycling program for schools and nonprofits. From March 13 to May 31, FundingFactory participants that signed up are competing to recycle the largest quantity of empty printer cartridges and small electronics.
FundingFactory matched the competing schools according to their comparable recycling rate. The winning school will earn a 25 percent fundraising bonus, and the top overall recycler will win a new Apple® iPad®. The FundingFactory program is free, and enables schools and nonprofit organizations to exchange electronic waste for cash or points redeemable for new technology or classroom products. Schools, nonprofit organizations, churches, and other groups can register for free at www.fundingfactory.com/register.
“The ‘Recycling Rumble’ builds awareness of the importance of recycling,” said Sean Michaels, president of FundingFactory. “This friendly competition is an exciting way to get students, parents and the community involved in recycling and raising money for the school. In the end, all of the participants make an extraordinary impact on the environment, and that is the ultimate grand prize.”
Community members and local businesses are encouraged to get involved in the Recycling Rumble by dropping off used ink and laser cartridges, and small electronics at a participating FundingFactory school through May 31. To find a neighboring school, interested companies can sign up as a Business Supporter for free at www.fundingfactory.com/register/support.aspx, or call 1.888.883.8237. They can continue to donate the value of their recyclables to FundingFactory participants long after Recycling Rumble ends.
