FundingFactory is the largest fundraising-by-recycling program for schools and nonprofits, which has provided more than $26 million in funding to organizations since its inception. To enter the contest, FundingFactory participants submitted photos that creatively answered the question: How does your recycling program make a positive impact on your local and global community? The three participants with the highest votes received cash prizes of up to $300.

“We’re honored to participate in America Recycles Day through the Facebook photo contest. It’s important to bring awareness to the ways that technology can be recycled and reused to prevent unnecessary waste,” said pack leader Holly Zuckerman. “We are proud to be supporting the FundingFactory mission by raising awareness for greater recycling efforts nationwide.”

Boy Scout Pack 197 raises money with FundingFactory to support their activities, including overnight stays at the Kennedy Space Center and camping with the beluga whales and polar bears at SeaWorld. “Each Boy Scout is required to recycle four pounds of waste in order to advance in rank,” said Zuckerman. In less than a year, Pack 197 has raised over $805 and recycled 1,263 pounds of waste with FundingFactory.

“It’s exciting to acknowledge these three notable organizations and to see how every recycling program is making a positive difference in their communities,” said Sean Michaels, president of FundingFactory and co-president of its parent company, Environmental Reclamation Services. “We congratulate all the winners on their contributions to protecting our environment and demonstrating eco-friendly living, and thank all the fans who took the time submit and vote.”

Additionally, FundingFactory staff voted and determined participants who earned honorable mention. The Most Creative entry was awarded to Grandy Primary School in Camden, N.C., the Most Green entry was presented to The Learning Center in Hagerstown, Md., and the Winstead Area Child Care Center in Winstead, Conn., earned the Funniest photo entry.
