Herndon, Va. (May 12, 2010) – ePals, Inc., has been honored with two 2010 BESSIE Awards from the ComputED Learning Center. ePals LearningSpace was awarded Best Multi-Discipline Collaboration Website under the Teacher Tools category, while the ePals.com Team Earth Focus Area was named Best Multi-Subject Current Topics Website under the Multi-Level category.
ePals LearningSpace is a virtual workspace that enables collaborative learning through social media tools, and access to a growing library of high-quality content, digital storage areas for personal school files and ePals SchoolMail. ePals LearningSpace delivers all these features with industry-leading safety and security needed for a K-12 school system.
The ePals.com Team Earth Focus Area, created with Conservation International who licensed the ePals’ platform, offers an interactive resource center for students worldwide to engage in competitions, voice their opinions and get involved. Students can join “Team Earth,” get their classrooms on the map, review resources about important environmental issues, and upload user-generated content to highlight ideas about how they can make a difference in the global sustainability initiative.
“We are honored that ComputED Learning has recognized our newest product, ePals LearningSpace, as well as the ePals.com Team Earth Focus Area,” said Edmund Fish, President of ePals, Inc. “These services illustrate our company’s dedication to develop the highest-quality tools and resources for schools and districts, while offering leading companies and organizations, such as International Baccalaureate, Conservation International and the National Geographic Society, access to a robust and flexible platform for sharing educationally-relevant content to millions of students, parents and educators around the world.”
This is the 16th year of the Annual Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIES). The ComputED Gazette and Computer Learning Lab, San Diego’s leading computer education resource, sponsor the award program. Targeting innovative and content-rich programs and websites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence, the program selects winners from titles submitted by digital resource publishers from around the world.
