Fredericton, New Brunswick (March 30, 2009) – AutismPro, a 21st century response to educating students with autism, has received an official endorsement from the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE). CASE is an international professional organization that shapes policies and practices that impact the quality of education for exceptional students who receive special education services.
Based on a rigorous evaluation, CASE endorses products after reviewing a number of elements, including:
The research that the product is based on or supported by
How the product has performed in field-tests
The company’s reputation and expectation for longevity in the industry
How the company is working to enhance professional practice as advocated by CASE/CEC policy and standards
How the product addresses identified member needs
“The CASE Publication and Product Review Committee was extremely impressed with AutismPro, and with the company’s enthusiasm and commitment to providing educators and administrators with the tools and programming they need to impact the learning environment of each student with autism,” said Luann Purcell, Ed. D., Executive Director of CASE.
The first autism-focused product to be endorsed by CASE, AutismPro is a customizable package of tools, content and programming that allows administrators to build capacity and helps educators to improve outcomes for students with autism. Eligible for IDEA funds, the solution is designed to help educators and administrators improve the learning experiences for students with autism through the effective use of technology. Members of a professional advisory board, including Dr. Kathleen Quill of the Autism Institute, Dr. Cathy Pratt of the Autism Society of America, and Dr. Brenda Smith Myles, assisted in the development and review of AutismPro.
“AutismPro delivers the tools educators need to develop an intervention plan that is both consistent and individualized for each student with autism,” said Kevin Custer, CEO of Virtual Expert Clinics. “Helping schools deliver the autism treatment of their choice, while coordinating that care with the entire special education team, allows them to guide the ever-increasing number of children with autism. AutismPro benefits the student through consistent intervention, and helps districts increase their capacity to serve more students with autism despite shrinking budgets.”
AutismPro strengthens the effectiveness of a dedicated educator. It provides the means for general education teachers to learn about autism, and to embrace the methodologies that have been shown to help students with autism learn successfully in the classroom. In addition, AutismPro helps educators with a moderate understanding of autism to easily access many of the day-to-day lesson plans they need through one online solution.
As the Stimulus Act provides unique opportunities for school districts to invest in innovative tools, AutismPro can be used to address ongoing challenges and improve outcomes for students with autism. AutismPro Workshops and AutismPro Resources, two components of AutismPro, offer professional development and resources that allow educators and teaching assistants to become more comfortable with teaching students with autism. This critical training will ensure job retention and lower turnover rates, alleviating this serious problem for administrators.
Virtual Expert Clinics, Inc., the developer of AutismPro, is providing a free Webinar for all CASE members entitled, “Leveraging The Stimulus: How to Turn Federal Stimulus Dollars into Lasting Benefits for Students with Autism.” CASE members also have the option of scheduling a one-hour consulting session to determine if AutismPro can be a solution for their school district. More information about the Webinar schedule and registration can be found at www.AutismPro.com/CASE.
