Emeryville, Calif. (June 12, 2009) – The Key to Tracker, published by Key Curriculum Press®, was selected by The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) as a 2009 Distinguished Achievement Award recipient in the math curriculum category for grades 6-8. The Key to Tracker offers teachers online tools to increase their students’ knowledge of basic math skills.
The Key to Tracker is an online subscription service that serves as the companion to the Key to…® workbooks. The Key to Tracker offers teachers an easy way to monitor progress as their students work on fractions, decimals, percents, and algebra in their Key to… workbooks. Computer-graded assessments save teachers time, allowing them to focus on teaching rather than grading papers. Fun graphics and instant feedback motivate students to keep learning.
According to Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP, the 2009 winners exemplify what it means to think in terms of the 21st century classroom. “Despite our economic climate, I was struck by the limitless innovative ideas seen throughout this year’s entries,” said Gaynor. “Many products challenged educational norms and explored new ways to make the essentials fun. Stellar math and reading materials proudly earned honors along with less traditional yet relevant real-world subjects like finance, relationships and nutrition.”
The AEP Awards aim to give credit and recognition to the organizations that are leading the way in the field of educational products, and to set benchmarks to which the rest of the industry can aspire. Submitted products undergo a rigorous two-tier judging process by a panel of educators and industry experts. Founded in 1895, AEP is a nonprofit professional organization that serves and advances the industry of educational publishing.
The 2009 Distinguished Achievement Awards were presented at the annual AEP Awards Banquet & Gala on June 12, 2009, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. To view a complete list of AEP Award winners, visit www.aepweb.org/awards/winners.htm.
