The program gives K-12 schools nationwide the opportunity to win one of three grand-prize 21st-century classrooms. Each classroom includes tablet or notebook computers, a notebook cart, interactive whiteboard, student response system, projector, printer, and document camera. CDW-G and Discovery Education also provide on-site training to all Win a Wireless Lab grand-prize winners.
To date, CDW-G and Discovery Education have awarded more than $2 million in educational technology to 23 schools nationwide, enabling teachers to help students further develop 21st-century skills. The 2009 program generated a record 702,000 sweepstakes entries in just five months. The 2010 program gives eligible entrants additional opportunities to increase their chances of winning via Twitter. After entering at www.discoveryeducation.com/cdwg, entrants who post about the program on their Twitter accounts can receive an additional two entries per day, for a total of three entries per day.
“As 21st-century classroom technology becomes more sophisticated, moving from simple Internet access to interactive whiteboards and student response systems, it is important that classrooms are outfitted with the latest technology to prepare students for their educational lives beyond K-12 classrooms,” said Bob Kirby, vice president for K-12 sales, CDW-G. “Through the Win a Wireless Lab program, we strive to provide students and faculty with the tech tools that they need to succeed today and tomorrow.”
In addition to the hardware technology included in the 21st-century classroom, Discovery Education will award a $5,000 digital media grant to the three grand-prize winning schools enabling a more engaging learning environment.
