Silver Spring, Md. (June 25, 2008) – Supporting ELL and world language educators and students, Discovery Education announced today that Discovery Education streaming customers now have the option to purchase an additional 1,000 high-quality titles spanning 30 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Hebrew, Hindi, and Spanish.

The only digital video-based learning resource scientifically proven to increase academic achievement, Discovery Education streaming enhances educator’s curriculum with digital media and engages today’s technology-savvy generation. Today, 1 million educators in more than half of U.S. schools learn with Discovery Education streaming.

The new ELL and world language content available through Discovery Education streaming was carefully selected by Discovery Education’s Curriculum and Content Development teams from the Discovery Communications family of international networks including the Science Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Kids, and more. Discovery Education’s Curriculum Development team has reviewed these videos to ensure appropriateness for K-12 classrooms and has correlated this new media to existing state standards.

Among the new titles are videos from Corwin’s Quest, Smash Lab and Fearless Planet. In addition, hard-to-find resources in Chinese and Arabic are now accessible to teachers and students. More than 100 videos in Mandarin, Complex Chinese and Simple Chinese and 25 Arabic-language titles including videos from the series What the Ancients Knew, Some Assembly Required and Chasing Nature are available.
