Califone International Announces Upgrade
to its Infrared Classroom Audio System

Affordable audio system allows students and faculty
to hear school-wide and classroom-centered announcements

San Fernando, Calif. (June 8, 2010)Califone International, Inc., has upgraded its Infrared Classroom Audio System to allow announcements from the school’s central office to be played directly through the audio system in each classroom.

The Infrared Classroom Audio System helps school administrators and educators to combat inadequate classroom acoustics, high levels of ambient noise and poor sound insulation by providing a way for teachers and students to hear learning objects, such as visual media played through the classroom projector system, and each other, clearly.

The redesigned console now features a dedicated port that receives an audio signal directly from the school’s office, supporting both high and low voltage systems. In addition, the console includes a local volume control, allowing teachers to determine how loud office announcements should be in their individual classrooms.

“Traditionally, the Infrared Classroom Audio System is used by classroom teachers to ensure all students can hear clearly what they need to hear, whether it is the teacher’s own voice or other audiovisual-based activities,” said Tim Ridgway, VP of marketing for Califone. “Our upgraded system now helps schools to implement and maintain a school-wide announcement and emergency-response solution cost-effectively.”

These enhancements follow the company’s recent upgrade of the Infrared Classroom Audio System to include a second wireless channel for its student microphone, as well as new features that enable teleconferencing.

The system also offers a choice in how the audio will be projected – by two or four of the company’s “array” speakers or the just-launched Ceiling Speakers. The “array” speakers project sound directly at the audience, enabling students in every area of the classroom to hear oral instruction and educational audio technology clearly. The system includes a lightweight belt-pack transmitter with a lapel microphone for the teacher, a wireless handheld microphone for student use, and a lockable metal case containing the volume, bass and treble controls, as well as the line inputs and outputs.

Califone will showcase the upgraded Infrared Classroom Audio System during InfoComm, June 9-11, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada (Booth #N1429), and during ISTE, June 27-30, 2010, in Denver, Colo (Booth #1189).
