San Fernando, Calif. (June 15, 2009) – During Infocomm, Califone International, Inc., will introduce its new ClearSound™ in-ceiling loudspeaker, a high-fidelity two-way speaker system. Designed to be mounted flush with the ceiling or wall, the ClearSound speaker is ideal for auditorium, classroom and other educational facility uses in either stereo or surround systems.
Available in pairs, each ClearSound speaker allows for efficient sound distribution and audio amplification, ensuring that students can hear their teacher or multimedia clearly. The speakers are engineered with a frequency response optimal for vocal reproduction and multimedia presentations, creating whole room audio immersion with superior coverage.
In addition, the ClearSound ceiling speakers are available with the Califone Infrared Classroom Audio System. The infrared system combines numerous premium components to form a convenient sound system that provides high-quality reinforcement in a wide range of audio-visual applications.
“The ClearSound ceiling speaker offers facility planners a cost effective and less obtrusive alternative to our PresentationPro™ or line of classroom Array speakers,” said Tim Ridgway, VP marketing of Califone. “Educators and technology coordinators will appreciate its ability to reproduce vocal and multimedia presentations, especially when paired with our Infrared Classroom Audio System. The most important issue is this soundfield system can help increase the signal-to-noise ratio, ensuring students are hearing what they are meant to hear throughout the learning process.”
The Infrared Classroom Audio System includes a lightweight headworn microphone, a companion compact beltpack infrared transmitter, and a wireless handheld microphone. The use of two IR receivers – outfitted with multiple internal sensors – means that IR transmission is reliable and can span presentation spaces up to 2,000 square feet. The system was recently upgraded with a second wireless channel and is now compatible with MAC or PC-based teleconferencing systems, such as Microsoft® Netmeeting.
The frame and grill of the ClearSound speaker can be painted to match the wall or ceiling, making it ideal for the most low-profile of applications. The speakers are shipped with mounting brackets for use when the speakers are installed in an acoustic or drop ceiling. The back cover also is fire-rated to meet the most stringent safety requirements.
Each ClearSound speaker is equipped with a 6.5-inch (165mm) woofer, a 1-inch (25.4mm) tweeter and an integrated crossover. It is rated at 8 Ohms impedance and is designed to operate with an average (RMS) power rating of 30 watts and a peak power rating of 60 watts.
