Califone Promotes Safe Hearing Practices
with Line of Protection Gear

Hearing Safe™ Protectors and Foam Earplugs ideal for industrial art classes

San Fernando, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2009) – Promoting safe hearing practices in school and business environments, Califone International, Inc., announces a line of specially designed protection gear. Ideal for school industrial art classes, such as metals or woodshop courses, each product is designed to block out potentially damaging noises.

The line comprises two product categories, providing educators, students and professionals with a safety tool for managing listening habits. Many studies have found that irreparable hearing loss can result from high levels of noise over extended periods of time, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) asserts that more than 30 million Americans are exposed to hazardous sound levels on a regular basis. In addition, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) recommends that people should not listen to volume levels exceeding 85 decibels as this may result in long-term damage to hearing.

“We pride ourselves in developing and offering products that are safe for both student, educator and professional use,” said Tim Ridgway, VP of Marketing for Califone. “These hearing protectors are a natural extension of the audio-visual products, including high-quality headphones and amplification systems, we already provide to schools, houses of worship, and recreational facilities.”

Research has shown that hearing loss can lead to many problems for students, including difficulty with academic achievement in language arts, vocabulary, arithmetic, and problem solving. Califone is dedicated to developing products that will help educators guide students to make the best choices for their health, and by recognizing and changing potentially harmful hearing habits. This new product line is an example of that commitment.
