2013 Smithsonian Online Education Conference Series Presents Two Sessions on Astrophotography

The Smithsonian Center for Learning and Digital Access will host two online education conferences on astrophotography that highlight how scientific data helps tell the story of the universe through images. Joseph DePasquale and Mary Dussault from the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory will present “Understanding Astrophotography: Where Science and Art Meet” Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m. EDT. Dussault, with Lindsay Bartholomew of the Miami Science Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, will present the second session, “Do-It-Yourself Astrophotography: Applications for the Classroom and Beyond,” Wednesday, July 10, at 4 p.m. EDT. more

6th Annual Flipped Conference to be Live Streamed for Worldwide Access

This year's Flipped Conference, held in Stillwater, Minn. June 18-19, will be streamed live to virtual attendees worldwide. Nearly 30 hours of content from four strands will be broadcast in their entirety. Archived sessions will also be available for six months after the conference. Keynote speakers include Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams, the pioneers of Flipped Learning and co-authors of Flip Your Classroom: Reach Every Student in Every Class Every Day, and Ramsey Musallam, a chemistry teacher in San Francisco, TED speaker and author of the Cycles of Learning blog. more
