(October 26, 2016) – Higher education institutions are relying on predictive analysis to make decisions about admission and resource allocation, a process that could perpetuate the underrepresentation of minority and low-income students. vibeffect, credited with engineering the first scientific model to increase student thriving and on-time graduation for higher education institutions, releases data showing that contrary to popular belief, students from low-income households are likely to thrive in four-year, traditional higher education institutions.

After surveying students in 5,000 households, spanning 1,000 institutions and covering 360 variables, this new data shows that students from low-income households ($35,000 household income and below) have equal probability of earning a high-thriving designation on all dimensions of thriving and often are equally represented in the highest-thriving group.

Arlington Independent School District Makes Mobile Learning a Reality with LocknCharge

MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 11, 2016) – Research conducted by Project Tomorrow indicates that mobile devices increase student engagement, student-teacher communications and access to course materials outside of the classroom. To reap these benefits, Arlington Independent School District (AISD) in Texas is introducing more than 1,800 Carrier 30 Carts from LocknCharge to have the capacity to hold more than 54,000 Chromebooks. With these carts, AISD staff can store, charge and protect the mobile devices—making it easier to implement digital learning initiatives.

Using a $663.1 million bond package, AISD is providing Chromebooks to its 76 schools with the goal of having a Carrier 30 cart for every two classrooms. Each cart holds 30 devices that will be used to accelerate web-based learning environments, address online testing needs and boost student performance.

California Districts Select IO Education to Track and Report LCAP Progress

ATLANTA – Oct. 4, 2016 – California administrators continue to implement their Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) as required by the California Department of Education. As part of the effort to meet the state’s new accountability requirements, six California school districts representing 116,000 students, have selected IO Insights from IO Education to better gauge, track and report on LCAP progress.

Covina-Valley, Pomona, Apple Valley, Orange, Azusa and Pasadena Unified School Districts have chosen IO Education as the accountability platform to set goals, define measures, monitor progress and report on student achievement to improve educational outcomes.
